This talk will cover future enhancements of the ext2 filesystem that have been planned, such as journaling, b-tree support, extents, access control, and compression. What is the current status of these enhancements? How do they relate to newer filesystems coming onto the scene, such as XFS? All of these questions and more will be answered in this talk.
